Who Me?
2 Cor. 5:20 says that we are ambassadors for Christ...we are His representatives, chosen to speak for Him and bring people the most important message ever...salvation through Jesus.
I look at myself and often think that if I were God, I would have made a "Plan B." God's representative? Me? Entrusted with the message of eternal life? If I were God, I'd fire me.
But then He reminds me of the great truth that makes it possible: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant...2 Cor. 3:5-6
Ambassadors...Secret Agents...Who me? Yes, me...and YOU!
Thank you Pastor Colleen for the encouraging words. It is good to be reminded of our mission here on this earth. Amazing that he wants to use us for His work!
ReplyDeleteJan Duiker reports her Secret Agent assignment from last week:
ReplyDeleteSunday, coming out of Safeway I saw an older man who touched my heart. Usually I don’t give money to homeless, but this man was trying to sell old food out of a shopping cart and he had such a nervous, sad face with such bad teeth he could barely talk coherently. So I gave him 5$, said something about Jesus and walked away, half expecting him to go inside and buy alcohol, but when I turned around he was putting money in the Coke machine to get a cold drink. I prayed hard that God would communicate to him that he was loved and cared about.
Yesterday, I was talking to my daughter on the phone. She shared that her and her husband were having trials because of his new job. I was reminded of Pastor Jeff's sermon from James 1:2-4. I was able to encourage her with God's word, helping her refocus her thoughts on Jesus not the trial. She immediately calmed down, saying how much these words had helped her. I am blessed to be used as Secret Agent for my daughter!
ReplyDeleteDan & Dorothy Padron testify:
ReplyDeleteWhile visiting a relative one of their neighbors came hobbling out of their house to say hello. When asked why she was limping so badly she explained that her sciatic nerve was acting up. Dan & Dorothy offered to pray for her which she accepted and so they laid hands on her and prayed. By the time they finished visiting, the pain had almost completely subsided! Thank You, Jesus!
Linda Huff reports that while speaking with her son on the phone, she reminded him that he needed to return to the Lord. She offered to pray for him which he accepted (first time in forever)! She prayed and he listened. She's confident that the Lord is on the move and her son will return to the Lord.
ReplyDeleteRay Johnson was on an assignment...here's what happened:
ReplyDeleteLate last week God put on my heart to call a friend in SE Montana so I did. When I got him on the phone I found out he had been without power for three days, the area was covered with smoke and there were fires all around. He was running generators to keep his freezers going. The area was incredibly dry. I asked him if I could pray for him and he was delighted.
He called me back two days ago with the following report. They had an inch of rain, the fires were out, the smoke gone, the power was back on and he could get back to work. He thanked me again for the call and prayer. God is great and all we have to do is listen and do simple things like make a call.
No strike 3 for me... I was in Walmart the other day, and I had told the Lord that I didn't want to miss ANOTHER opportunity to be used by Him... I had already missed 2 opportunities. While I was walking in Walmart, the Lord whispered... 'get ready' ... sure enough within 2 minutes, there was my assignment. Thank You Lord!
ReplyDeleteA couple of weeks ago Pastor Jeff gave us a test designed to uncover our hidden bias's. I was feeling pretty good about it. It seemed like I didn't have any bias at all. The other day God pointed out my bias. It was so close to home, I didn't even see it. I have lived across the street from a woman who is in a wheel chair. In eight years I have scarcely had 3 brief conversations with her. I wave to her. I pray for her, but I never ever take the time to just check in and talk and be a good neighbor. Yesterday I finally did that. I went over and said "hello" and we talked for a half hour! Just when you think you're doing good, God can make you better! He is awesome!
